Brush Prairie Bogs is located along the Southern Oregon coast, near Cape Blanco, the most westerly point in the contiguous United States. The property is owned and operated by the Hagg and Walter families, who have been farming in Oregon for five generations.
The first bogs were built in the 1950s, then rebuilt and expanded in the early 1990's. In 1998, Brush Prairie Bogs began using certified organic practices under the oversight of Oregon Tilth. Three years later the farm earned its organic certification.
Organic practices bring together a harmony of interests which include the soil, the vines, the fruit, the ground water and water shed, the surrounding environment and its wildlife. The farming family members benefitby not having to handle the toxic herbicides and pesticides. And the customers who use their food dollars to promote a cleaner environment gain a better cranberry.
"We feel that the sustainable, organic practices we are using have been integral to our successes. Our cranberries are known for their rich, dark color, and unusually high sugar content."
Brush Prairie Bogs is committed to producing an excellent cranberry by utilizing excellent growing methods.
